Sound: A delicate, full-bodied sound with a recognizable silvery timbre.
Varnish & Finish (2024): In 2024, the master re-varnished the violin, giving it a rich red color over a golden base. The color shifts and comes alive with changes in lighting angle and intensity. Finished with an oil-amber varnish and polished.
Special Feature:
Front Plate Miniature: "Angel with a Viola".
The miniature is executed in oil paint with mother-of-pearl inlay and glazing.
The subject is inspired by the central panel of the triptych "God the Father with Singing and Music-Making Angels" (also known as "Christ with Singing and Music-Making Angels") by the Flemish painter Hans Memling (c. 1483-1494). The original is housed in the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, Antwerp.
