Workshop A. Dmitrieff

The workshop has been operating for over 10 years, with two branches in Moscow and Tula. The label indicates the master's connection to his native city of Moscow, but the best working conditions are found near Tula.

The entire instrument-making process is done exclusively by hand, including jointing and planing the wood blanks. Varnishes and pigments are all prepared in-house, using only selected, natural ingredients.

We exclusively use classic, reversible sturgeon glue. Furthermore, the Master provides a lifetime guarantee on all glued joints of the instrument. In the event of spontaneous separation of the plates, ribs, neck, fingerboard, or scroll, the repair is performed free of charge.

All hand tools (chisels, gouges, planes, etc.) are of the highest grade. Many tools were invented and crafted by the Master himself or made to his specifications. For example, a truly unique device for adjusting the soundpost, featuring a laser pointer, allows for exceptionally precise control over the slightest movement of the post, which, as is well known, has a colossal impact on the violin's final timbre.

There is also a special jig for precisely replicating the arching of the plates when fitting the soundpost, ensuring absolute contact of all its ends with the plate.
